2nd half taxes were due August 12th. Online payments at this website are now DISABLED in order to allow for settlement of the tax collection.
If you still need to make a payment you can either mail a check or money order to us at: 15 S. Court Street, RM 334, Athens, OH 45701 or come to the office between the hours of 8am and 4pm.
The County Treasurer is the chief investment officer and cash manager for the county. He is a member of the Budget Commission, Board of Revision and the Data and Microfilm boards. The Treasurer’s office collects and accounts for taxes paid to the county as well as collecting and accounting for money from other county offices and services. The office is a part of the county’s check and balance system with the Auditor’s office.
The Athens County Treasurer is also the Chair of our County Land Bank and has extensive involvement dealing with abandoned and dilapidated properties in Athens County. If you know of a problem property that should be considered for action at The Land Bank, please email the Treasurer.

Your County Treasurer’s office has a staff of five full-time deputies. Their responsibilities include: – collection of real estate and mobile home taxes, – delinquent payment plans, – Treasurer escrow plans and managing the county’s investment portfolio.
We no longer have estate or personal property taxes in Ohio.
In addition, they record all monies received by any other county offices and are responsible for County Investments.
